Premise: Megan Fox is Emma, a woman trapped in a toxic marriage and feeling no way out. On their anniversary, Mark brings her to their secluded lake house frosted and snow-covered in an effort to rekindle their relationship. She wakes up chained to his corpse. What unravels is his revenge plot because he knows she’s been cheating.

What I Liked: Just when I thought it wouldn’t be original enough, it added enough elements and nuance that I was entered. I was screaming angrily at my screen. I was engaged. It’s equal parts horror, thriller, and slasher. A really solid mix that delivers.

This is probably some of the better acting I’ve seen out of Megan Fox. Her almost dead-pan deliver makes any heightened emotion from her seem over the top, and that’s exactly what something like this needs. It outlandish – just like her dead husband’s revenge plot – but every added twist just gets the viewer engaged more. She’s a final girl (albeit the only girl in this film), and you want to see her make it to the end.

What I didn’t like: Aside from the fact that the plot of the movie is only possible because our main characters (at least the main antagonist) our uber wealthy, my wife pointed out a huge flaw. Why would the husband kill himself? Wouldn’t he want to be alive to make sure the jump was done? Then off himself. There were other ways he could’ve gotten his revenge.

My other gripe is how polished and dolled up Megan’s Emma looks in every shot. Even when she’s bloody and exhausted, you can see her make up. Final Girls can be beauty but when it comes to survival, they’ve got to be dirty. It’s the primal nature of survival: to give into that Id instinct to do anything to survive. If I was the director I would’ve demanded Megan be dirtied and her hair damp. Little smudges and blood-stained shirts didn’t convey enough of Emma’s ordeal.

Verdict: At the time i’m writing this, Till Death is currently among the top streaming movies on Netflix. For good reason. it’s worth the watch. It won’t disappoint.
